    Example Text (for Skimming):

"Climate change has become one of the most pressing global issues in the 21st century..."

📖 Reading Passage: Climate Change in the 21st Century

Climate change has become one of the most pressing global issues in the 21st century. It refers to long-term shifts in temperatures and weather patterns, mainly caused by human activities such as burning fossil fuels, deforestation, and industrial processes. These activities release greenhouse gases like carbon dioxide and methane into the atmosphere, trapping heat and causing the Earth’s temperature to rise.

One of the major impacts of climate change is the increase in global average temperature, often called global warming. This warming leads to melting ice caps in the Arctic and Antarctic, rising sea levels, and more frequent extreme weather events such as hurricanes, floods, and droughts. These changes threaten ecosystems, animal habitats, and human settlements around the world.

Climate change also affects agriculture and food security. Changes in rainfall patterns and extreme heat can reduce crop yields, while rising sea levels may damage coastal farmland. In many developing countries, where communities depend heavily on agriculture, climate change poses a serious risk to livelihoods.

To address this issue, many governments and organizations are working on solutions. These include shifting to renewable energy sources such as solar and wind power, protecting forests, promoting sustainable farming, and creating international agreements like the Paris Agreement. However, experts warn that stronger global cooperation and urgent action are still needed to reduce emissions and protect the planet for future generations.
